  1. I'm always pleased to see my first Large Red Damselfly in the garden as it hails the start of the Odonata season and the approach of summer.

  2. I love how we're synchronizing the emerging of this species from different locations. Mine last week:

    Large Red Damselfly, male, emerged One of the earliest damsels to emerge. This young male emerged in our garden. In the background (out of focus) is the actual exuviae, stuck to a small twig. They must have crawled out of my mini pond. Surprising, as it's tiny and I figured it to be void of much prey.<br />

As I found it, it was still preparing for its first ever flight, but my approach did speed it up, some minuted later it was gone.<br />
