
Carolina Pygmy Rattlesnake
An individual found from the unique population in North Carolina known as the “Red Pygmy Rattlesnake”. This population is known for this odd color which differentiates it from all its other counterparts. It is however not it’s own subspecies and belongs to the Sistrurus miliarius miliarius group.

‘'Sistrurus miliarius,'' commonly called the pygmy rattlesnake, is a species of venomous snake in the subfamily Crotalinae of the family Viperidae. The species is endemic to the Southeastern United States. Three subspecies are currently recognized, including the nominate subspecies described here.
