Broad-bodied Chaser (Male)

Male broad-bodied chaser. The males are colored bright blue while the females are yellow/green.

    Yes they can be quite restless. I do notice that many dragonflies return to the same spot if you stand still. Posted 12 years ago

The Broad-bodied chaser

"Libellula depressa", the broad-bodied chaser or broad-bodied darter, is one of the most common dragonflies in Europe and central Asia. It is very distinctive with a very broad flattened abdomen, four wing patches and, in the male, the abdomen becomes pruinose blue.
