Fly - Pollenia intermedia I found this fly lying on the snow, on its back and nearly dead. I carried it around in my hand for awhile to see if it would revive. After a few minutes, it started to twitch a bit. But, outdoor temps were 10F (-12C) and we were expecting nearly half a foot of snow. So, I did the unthinkable and took the fly inside and killed it in my freezer. I rationalize that it would have died outside anyway and was nearly dead when I found it. I figured that it would be a good chance for me to play around with my indoor lighting and take some diagnostic shots. Sorry fly!<br />

  1. Interesting to find a fly in February, although I did spot the first one in the garden as well. Good job on documenting it so well. Posted 4 years ago
    1. Thanks. I am not happy with the photos, but shared them anyway for the sake of the details. It was weird to see the fly outside and my guess is that it either wandered over from the farm or came from a neighbor's house? Posted 4 years ago
