Larva - Caddisfly (Philopotamidae) or Midge (Tanypodinae) I *think* this is a midge larva. But, caddisfly larvae in the family Philopotamidae look similar. It was free-swimming.<br />

    1. Thanks! It's not an easy task, but I probably took these photos as soon as I got home...and, even then-- I am still lucky it wasn't devoured on the drive home from the pond! Posted 4 years ago
