  1. I'd say a scoopwing (subf Epipleminae). I checked some 100 species with photos, yet none match the really cool feature of your moth: the fluffs near the thorax. Could be a very obscure moth or I'm entirely in the wrong family. Posted 4 years ago

      1. Nice one! I think it's a scoopwing as well, possibly Erosia sp....although, I'm not seeing a match. About the tufts of fur on the thorax...they may be sound absorbers, kind of like acoustic camouflage. They absorb up to 85% of the sound pinged at them (by bats using echolocation to find moths). Long, fluffy scales on the thorax absorb sound really well. Posted 4 years ago
