  1. I guess they're used to standing in the rain. Well some of them :) Posted 4 years ago
    1. Well, yes ... or ... ? ... where I live these will mostly never see the light of day, but here in Frisia I see plenty outside in the fields ... Posted 4 years ago
      1. Same here. Yet where I work (before Covid), we're surrounded by a few hobby farmers. Every year I try to witness the release moment. Early spring, when after many months in the stable, the cows get to go out and graze. The pure joy and excitement in the animals warms my heart, they are literally hopping like frogs, so happy. 1. When I was a kid I used to go out into the fields across from our home to build "castles" or cabins or whatever and the cattle (when out) would come and check us out. We played with the calfs, much like you would with a dog and had a "game" running away and have them follow us and then turn around promptly and try to grab them, at which point they would dig their hooves in and come to a grinding halt. Very playful :o)
A year later (or maybe two?) we were fooling around in the fields again and some "big cows" came charging in at us, so we took off, soon reaching a ditch/canal too wide to jump ... turned around to look how to dodge the "stampeding" cows .... that dug in their hooves and came to a grinding halt ... Very playful still :o)

            1. I like the way they even dressed up in black tuxedos for the concert! Very distinguished and culturally sensitive herd there :o) Posted 4 years ago
              1. It's classy. My favorite cow is the one in the front row with the white forehead. It seems most amazed and is totally perplexed by what is happening. Posted 4 years ago
  2. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but are they wild? Posted 4 years ago
    1. Nah, this is commercial cattle that has probably been lend out to the National Park for help with landscaping duties or some such ;o) Posted 4 years ago
      1. Oh okay, haha. Just curious. They look wild, but I have never seen wild cows, soooo... Posted 4 years ago

Cattle are the most common type of large domesticated ungulates. They are a prominent modern member of the subfamily Bovinae, are the most widespread species of the genus "Bos", and are most commonly classified collectively as "Bos primigenius". Cattle are raised as livestock for meat, as dairy animals for milk and other dairy products, and as draft animals.
