  1. Any odor or flavor? With the latex, I would definitely go with Lactifluus or Lactarius at this point. Posted 5 years ago
    1. Non-descript odor. I'm making a spore print right now. Posted 5 years ago
      1. You might get a lot of info from a chew and spit test too :) Posted 5 years ago
        1. Not sure if I'm feeling that daring this morning. Posted 5 years ago
          1. Haha!

There is no real risk (except a nasty flavor) so long as you spit it out. Even toxic species in the Amanita genus are safely tasted with the chew-and-spit method. If it is buggy and slimy, I'd definitely rethink it though!

            1. Flavorless! But I did detect a faint tingling on my tongue. Posted 5 years ago
              1. Yay! You tried it!

And interesting. Maybe could be classified as slightly spicy then? There are several species with this spicy/buzzing effect! I wish I could help narrow it down further! I highly recommend the Russulas and Lactarius of North America:

Edit: sometimes the latex has a specific flavor too!
