White Underwing

Catocala relicta

The White Underwing or The Relict is a moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in southern Canada, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, south to Missouri, and Arizona.

Black and white bands on hindwing distinctive. Forewing variable, white to gray. Thoracic area dark, as opposed to Sappho Underwing, which is white there. White Underwing is northern. The wingspan is 67–75 mm. Adults are on wing from July to September in one generation depending on the location.
