African Orange-bellied Parrot in flight The Red-bellied Parrot, a striking parrot, known locally as the African Orange-bellied Parrot, was seen here in the Sankele Swayne's Hartebeest Sanctuary. We had seen these birds earlier on the trip, both to the north and the south towards the Kenyan border. Here a male obligingly waited for us to approach before flying off. African Orange-breasted Parrot - female We were approaching Yabello when our guide Bereket, heard this female parrot calling from within a small tree as we were passing in our vehicle, so he stopped the car and we wandered over towards a small copse of trees until we eventually located the bird with its wonderful camouflage.
