Appearance

Rhizomatous, caespitose perennial, herb. The rough stems are up to 70 centimetres long and can be held upright or along the ground. The purple, fringed flowers are produced at the end of the stems from October to December.

Naming

Thysanotus is from the Greek word thysanotos, meaning fringed. Arenarius is a Latin word meaning pertaining to or growing in sand.

Distribution

Native to Western Australia.

Habitat

Yellow or orange sand over limestone
