Appearance

Forewing length 8-11 mm
Larva to 15-21 mm

Adult - blue-black with clear wings and yellow abdominal markings.
Larva - body creamy white with dark brown head and spiracles

Distribution

West Virginia and Maryland south to Georgia and eastern Texas, one record from southern Arizona.

Food

Larvae have been found to bore in the wood of cultivated holly (Ilex) spp.
