Bulgarian statice

The Bulgarian statice known as ''Sea Spray'' is a herbaceous perennial plant. Stems are 10-25 cm high with basal paddle shaped blue-green leaves and sturdy sprays of tiny star-shaped white blooms. Flowering June - July.

South-East Europe - Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey; South-West Asia.
Distribution in Bulgaria is in the following phytogeographic regions: Black Sea coast, Thracian Plane, Tundzha Hilly Plane, Danube plane, Stara planina (the Balkan) (middle and east), NE Bulgaria, the Stuma Valley, Znepole Region, the Strandzha and the Rhodopes (east). Between 0 and 500 m a. s. l

Status

PROTECTED species in Bulgaria - enlisted in Appendix 3 of Bulgarian Biodiversity Act.

Uses

Propagated as an ornamental plant.
