Parectatosoma hystrix is a stick insect in the family Anisacanthidae.
Parectatosoma hystrix This stick insect is a young female (around 6cm) found during night walk in Ranomafana forest. She's recognized by the spines and her green eyes. 

P. hystrix is also recognized by the number of rows of spines at the hinder extrimities of the terga (1st somite and abdominal somites). There is two rows in P. hystrix as you can see here instead of one in P. echinus (J. Wood-Mason description) Geotagged,Madagascar,Parectatosoma hystrix,Spring

Appearance

Individuals possess red and white spines along their bodies.
