Naming

The species contains two subspecies. ''Leucopogon fletcheri'' subsp. ''fletcheri'' is rare, found only in woodland in the Sydney region, and is listed as endangered. ''Leucopogon fletcheri'' subsp. ''brevisepalus'' is more common, found from the Central Tablelands of New South Wales to Victoria, and is not considered under threat.
