Naming

Listed as a synonym of Dichelonyx elongatula (Schönherr, 1817) (1), but "The synonymy in the checklist was based on an unpublished PhD dissertation. In subsequent discussions with scarab colleagues I have decided that it is better to follow the previous literature and recognize D. linearis as a good species until more comprehensive taxonomic work is done." Food

Adults feed on conifers and hardwoods, occasionally damaging ornamental trees and shrubs.
