Macrolophus pygmaeus is a species of plant bug in the family Miridae. It is found in Europe except the high north, south to north Africa and east to Asia Minor then to Central Asia.

Appearance

Slender, 3,1-3,9mm pale green Mirid with black first antenna segment and a black stripe behind the eyes. The 3rd antenna segment is roughly 1.75x the length of the 4th segment. In the otherwise very similar, but overall bigger M. rubi (3,9-4,7mm) the 3rd antenna segment is 2x the length of the fourth. Additionally M. rubi often has a black tip of the scutellum, M. pygmaeus not.

Food

Macrolophus pygmaeus is closely associated with Stachys sylvatica.
