Yellow Hawkweed

Hieracium pratense

Yellow Hawkweed is a hairy perennial plant native to Europe. In North America, this plant has escaped cultivation and is a common weed of fields and roadsides.

The flowers are yellow, reminiscent of a dandelion, but borne on tall, very hairy stems.

It is sometimes known as the "King Devil." :174

Pliny the Elder wrote that hawks ate this plant to improve their vision, and it has been used as an herbal remedy for vision problems.
