The southern banded newt is a species of salamander in the family Salamandridae found in Armenia , Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey.
Southern Banded Newt a very rare and very endangered amphibian, that I was very fortunate to meet this weekend!

Status

It is threatened by habitat loss.
Southern Banded Newt these amphibians are very small, they are about 5-7 cm long. I put my finger behind for scale.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are temperate forests, temperate grassland, rivers, intermittent rivers, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, caves, arable land, pastureland, rural gardens, urban areas, ponds, aquaculture ponds, open excavations, and canals and ditches.
