Polyommatus juno

Polyommatus juno

Polyommatus juno is a small butterfly of the Lycaenidae family.
One of the small blues with a wingspan of 25-40 mm, resembles the common Polyommatus icarus, of which it is often considered a subspecies, but with less conspicuous underside markings. The Juno inhabits mountains, in steppe and shrubby patches on mountaintops, and on stony slopes. Host plants are the legumes milk-vetches (Astragalus spp.) and sainfoins (Onobrychis spp.). This butterfly flies June through August in several broods.
