Arum orientale is a rhizomatous, herbaceous perennial plant. The flowers are produced in a spadix, surrounded by a coloured spathe.

Appearance

Leaf stalks 13-33cm long, more or less purple-flushed. Leaf blades oblong-hastate, 9-25cm in length with short basal lobes. Spathe to 15cm long, sometimes much more, pale green, variably purple-flushed without, sometimes with a purple border, borne amongst the foliage in late spring.
