The Beach Flax Lily (Dianella congesta) is a monocot flowering plant in the genus Dianella (commonly known as flax lilies). It grows mainly on coastal sand-dunes on the east coast of Australia and is considered to be an effective sand-binder.

Appearance

It is a perennial herb, growing up to 1 m high while forming mats uo to 20 m diameter. The leaves reach about 45 cm length with a blade width of around 10-15 mm. It flowers in spring/summer with blue flowers, with 3 petals, 3 sepals, and prominent yellow stamens.
