The broken-line hypenodes is a species of moth in the family Erebidae. It is found from Nova Scotia south to North Carolina, west across Canada to Alberta. The habitat consists of mixed wood and deciduous woodland.

Appearance

The wingspan is 11–14 mm. Adults are light grey or dirty white with variable darker grey markings. They are on wing from late June to mid August.

Adult: tiny (for a noctuid) long-winged light gray or dirty white moth with variable darker gray markings; forewing lines usually incomplete and marked by a series of dots; darker median shade often present; terminal area usually darker, and reniform spot usually marked by two dark dots; hindwing light brownish-gray, unmarked.
