Vanda perplexa

Vanda perplexa

Vanda perplexa is a species of Orchid from the family of Orchidaceae.
Perplex for 300 Years! Although commonly seen by thousands of tourist in the popular islands of Komodo and Rinca where tourists visited this islands to see its famous Komodo Dragon, this Orchid was only described scientifically as a new species in 2013!

The reason for this was this Orchid was mistakenly identified as Vanda furva, which was a known species for more than 300 years!

I am not certain, but suspect its name, perplexa probably refers to perplex, meaning baffled since this species was hidden by mistake! Flower,Indonesia,Komodo Island,Orchid,Plant,Vanda perplexa
