Larinioides sericatus

Larinioides sericatus is a relatively large orb-weaver spider common in most of Europe and parts of North America and Asia.

Females reach body length of 10–14mm, males 8–9mm.[1] Their orb webs can have diameters of up to 70 cm.

They often hide during the day, and wait for prey in the center of their web at night. Males can be found mostly during summer, females are active until November in Central Europe.
Larinioides sericatus The two names Larinioides sclopetarius and sericatus are synonymous and have been exchanged as valid/synonymous varoius times in past years both seem to be in wide usage still. Naming

Larinioides sericatus is often also referred to as Larinioides sclopetarius and it is known by many vernacular names including "Bridge Spider", "Gray Cross Spider", "Bridge Orbweaver" etc.
