Trametes cinnabarina

Trametes cinnabarina is a bracket fungus in the family Polyporaceae.
Cinnabar Polypore - Trametes cinnabarina Bright orange polypore with tough, orange flesh. Stem was absent.  The pores were bright orange with 2-4 round/angular pores per mm.

Appearance

Bright orange-red cap and pores; Cap fades with age; no stem
Cinnabar Polypore (Trametes cinnabarina) Habitat: Growing on a downed hardwood branch on the side of a road in Northwest Georgia (Floyd County), US.

Pileus: Smooth to slick, concentric zones of pale orange, white, and deeper orange.

Fertile surface: VIBRANT orange pores.

Chemical Analysis:
KOH on pileus—>Immediate red. Over time, develops gray/black tone.
KOH on flesh—> yellow to olive.
KOH on pores—>yellow.

Widespread
Cinnabar-red Polypore (Trametes cinnabarina) Young, small polypore (along with resupinate form at lower left) growing on a fallen hardwood branch at the edge of a dense mixed forest.
