Distribution

Indo-West Pacific: from Japan to Australia and New Caledonia.

Behavior

This species is found in sandy areas, often buried in the substrate with only its beautiful green eyes protruding. It is mainly seen on night dives. It is usually seen solitary on sand or in small schools in reef crevices.

Habitat

Bottom coral. On muddy and sandy substrates.

Reproduction

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
