Appearance
Annual herb. Leaves rosulate, oblong-lanceolate, entire or pinnatipartite; lobes triangular-oblong, obtuse, lamina at the base attenuating into a long petiole. Scape longer than the leaves, terminated by l-many cylindrical, sessile spikes. Spikes lax in the lower region, dense in the upper region. Spikelets 2-4-flowered, 2-bracteate. Bracts reddish, herbaceous, papillose to hirtellous on the dorsal side. Outer bract oblong-spathulate, narrowly scarious margined, mucronate; inner bract broader and slightly shorter than the outer bract, narrowing at base, narrowly membranous-margined, truncate. Calyx funnel-shaped; tube glandular hairy, 10-ribbed in the lower part; limb equal to the tube, 5-lobed, 5-nerved; nerves excurrent into long aristae.
