Appearance

Ornamental bulbous plant, 30-70 cm tall, found in desert and arid habitats. Flowers purple. Cultivated as a cut flower. Grows in sandy soils in the northern Negev, in rocky slopes in the Negev Highlands and marl soils in the Jordan Valley. Close to Allium tel-avivense that is shorter, with larger flowering heads and paler pink flowers.
