Ostorhinchus wassinki is a ray-finned species of fish from the family of cardinal foxes (Apogonidae).

Naming

The scientific name of the species was validly published in 1861 by Bleeker for the first time.

Distribution

Western Central Pacific: Malaysia and Philippines to Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Behavior

Solitary or in groups, adults in pairs.

Habitat

Inhabits coral reef. Also found in sheltered rocky reefs in 2-15 m, often in silty conditions (Ref 90102).

Reproduction

Mouthbrooders. Distinct pairing during courtship and spawning.
