
Appearance
As a member of the "Schistocerca alutacea Group" and as such by some authors referred to as a subspecies of S. alutacea, but as a distinct species by many others. Not sorprisingly, some specimen can be quite difficult to tell from other members of the group such as S. alutacea, S. lineata and S. albolineata.
Distribution
The species is known from fields and open woodlands across the southern United States (Pennsylvania, Florida, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona)References:
