Rhyparochromus vulgaris

Rhyparochromus vulgaris

Rhyparochromus vulgaris is a "Dirt-colored Seed Bug" (Heteropotera; Lygaeidae; Rhyparochrominae)
Rhyparochromus vulgaris First recorded in the Netherlands around 1987, but widely established now, especially in the Southeast, which reflects the distribution in the Palearctic, east to Mongolia and Korea, south to Algeria and Morocco. Adventive in the North Americas. Geotagged,Hemiptera,Heteroptera,Lygaeidae,Netherlands,Rhyparochromidae,Rhyparochrominae,Rhyparochromini,Rhyparochromus,Rhyparochromus vulgaris,nl: Gewone rookwants

Naming

Henry (1997) proposed to split the Lygaeidae into many seperate families, mostly based on former subfamilies. This has been widely followed in the USA and Australia, but European workers have maintained the Lygaeidae, so both classifications are in use today.
