Erites medura is a species of butterfly found in South East Asia. It was described by Thomas Horsfield in 1829.

Distribution

Java, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Peninsular Malaya

Status

Erites medura is widespread and not uncommon with a large extent of occurrence (EOO), and no major threats. It is not likely to be experiencing any major fluctuation or decline in range and so it is assessed as being of Least Concern.

Habitat

This butterfly inhabits dense primary rainforest. Adults favour undergrowth in shady parts of the forest where they rest for long periods on foliage 1-2 metres above the ground. They tend to be fairly inactive unless disturbed.
