Water Coral

Hydrops triangularis

''Hydrops triangularis'', commonly known as the water coral, is a species of snake endemic to South America.
Water Coral Snake at night, Inírida, Colombia One of our first finds in our first night tour in Inírida was this awesome aquatic snake, which our guide briefly put on shore (it was in a shallow fresh water stream). It is sometimes called the "Water false coral snake", because it is not a real coral snake (which are highly venomous), instead it mimics the patterns of a coral snake.

They tend to hunt at night on freshwater fish, which is how we found it. Their young, once hatched, from day one have to fend for themselves. Born to hunt, you could say. Colombia,Fall,Geotagged,Guainía,Hydrops triangularis,Inírida,South America,World, triangularis
