Tree Skink

Egernia striolata

A large, relatively flat dark-colored skink that despite its name is equally comfortable on rocky outcrops and downed logs. Shelters in hollow timber, beneath loose bark, and in narrow rock crevices.

Appearance

Dark olive to grey, darker along vertebral zone, with a broad pale dorsolateral diffusion from nape to midbody or base of tale. Upper lips white to pale gray. 2-5 blunt keels on each dorsal scale.

Distribution

A wide range across much of eastern Australia, including a branch west to the northern Eyre peninsula.
