Distribution

It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Grenada, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. It has occurred as a vagrant in Saint Vincent.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, pastureland, and heavily degraded former forest.
