Appearance

At 21.5 cm long, it is the largest South American wren and second in size only to the giant wren overall for the family.

Habitat

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.
