Decken's Sifaka at Tsingy, Madagascar
It's always a pleasure in Madagascar to spot a lemur you haven't seen before. In this case we were exploring the water-edged caves of the Tsingy area. Right across the water our guide spotted this Decken's Sifaka lemur on the hunt for tast leaves.
It's not the best shot, but a moment to remember. Luckily, later that day we had a much closer encounter with this lemur species.

Von der Decken's sifaka is a sifaka endemic to Madagascar. It has a length of 92 to 107 centimeters, of which 42-48 centimeters are tail. Von der Decken's Sifaka lives in western Madagascar. It lives in dry deciduous forest.
Its pelage is usually creamy white, with tinges of yellow-gold, silver grey or pale brown on the neck, shoulders, back and limbs. The face is entirely black. Group size is between 2 and 10 individuals, with groups of 3 to 6 most common.
