  1. Wow, nice one! And, looks like it has an STD as well... Posted 5 years ago
    1. Some kind of Laboulbeniales fungus, similar to this:

Hesperomyces harmoniae on Harmonia axyridis Not only did this beetle poop on me, but it has a parasitic fungus, Hesperomyces virescens, growing on its elytra. The fungus spreads during mating and through encounters with infected ladybugs; it can easily spread among ladybugs overwintering in groups. Despite the probable discomfort and sometimes impairments to movement, most infected ladybugs lead full and happy lives.<br />

Habitat: The beetle was attracted to a light in a rural area. Geotagged,Green Beetle Hanger,Harmonia axyridis,Hesperomyces harmoniae,Hesperomyces virescens,Summer,United States, beetle, beetle hanger

I don't know what kind infects this species of beetle though...Hmmm?

Small (2-3mm), yellowish species from the family Coccinellidae. Unlike most lady beetles, which are carnivores, Psyllobora species are mildew-feeders, and have mandibles armed with rake-like rows of small teeth used in gathering up spores and conidia.
