Madagascar Harrier-Hawk in Spiny Forest, Madagascar
The photo did not turn out great due to all the distractions that are unavoidable in this dense forest, but I'm still very happy to have captured this enormous bird of prey. It was fairly deep in the forest and approaching it took a very long time. Then we lost track of it for several minutes, found it again, captured it and only half a second later it flew away.

The Madagascar harrier-hawk is a very large species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family.
It is endemic to Madagascar. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
The population is believed to be stable and estimated between 1,000 and 10,000, with the range spread over the whole of Madagascar.
