  1. Thrilled to have found a male of this species in my garden in May 2020, I was twice as thrilled to discover this more rarely seen female, in the same garden in July 2020.

    As you can see if you're familiar with the male, the female takes a completely different form.

    1. Yes.

      They mate end-to end, which can take a while. The female will then wander off, sometimes oblivious to the fact she's still got a male attached to her rear!

    1. Sorry. Missed these messages until now.

      I believe this is an adult, a fresh one by the looks of it. As I understand it, it's already been through several stages, of growth and appearance each time with a different victim snail as a host. Mature adult females are larger, darker and more hairy.
