  1. I was thrilled to find the male of this nationally scarce species in my garden in May 2020, which demonstrates one of the most extreme cases of sexual dimorphism in the insect world.

The caterpillar-like female is many times larger than the male and unrecognisable as the same species.

This is a still from a video on my Youtube Wildlife channel which can be viewed here:

    1. Thank you for having me.

I have lots more to contribute and I've already learned some things from this site, so glad I found you.

  3. Welcome to JungleDragon, Philip. You've made an exceptional start. We normally have to spent some time educating new members but you seem to get everything right from the start: photo + location + species. And even a video. Altogether a rich post.

The only tiny comment I have is that what you've currently put in a comment, could/should go into the description field of the post, but it's no huge issue. You can access that field using the "Edit details" button below the photo.

Hope you like it here, don't hesitate to ask if anything is unclear.

    1. Thank you

I thought at the time I may have made that error, but corrected it for the follow-up, 'Robberfly'.

I would not want to upset a Robberfly :-)

I'm hugely impressed with the set-up.

      Respect to those responsible.
