A Pair of Black Oystercatcher Chicks. Centre Islet, where this photo was taken, has always had at least one couple of nesting Black Oystercatchers. This year there are many and the island is very noisy with the calls of the adults and the young. The black oystercatcher is a conspicuous black bird found on the shoreline of western North America. It ranges from the Aleutian Islands of Alaska to the coast of the Baja California peninsula.
