  1. Hi Ferdy, I've been looking at your Sooty falcon photos and I don't think that's what they are, as it's usually a very striking gray bird.
    I think this one is a Madagascar Buzzard, as it looks quite chunky, with the classic Buteo pattern of brown splotches on the underparts.

The Madagascar Buzzard is a species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is endemic to Madagascar.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
