Butterfly fail I'm generally reasonably pleased with the quantity, quality and diversity of the photos we took back from Madagascar, but there is one thing I definitely failed at: butterflies. They are huge, but very restless and I never had the luck of being in the right place with the right lens. This photo is about the closest I got, and this one is of a small and less spectacular butterfly. To me this seems like a monarch butterfly. Butterfly fail

I'm generally reasonably pleased with the quantity, quality and diversity of the photos we took back from Madagascar, but there is one thing I definitely failed at: butterflies. "Danaus chrysippus", also known as the plain tiger, African queen, or African monarch, is a medium-sized butterfly widespread in Asia, Australia and Africa. It belongs to the Danainae subfamily of the brush-footed butterfly family Nymphalidae.
