    1. Thanks so much. Madagascar's landscapes are one of a kind. Whilst beautiful, a landscape such as this is ugly in that it is stripped of primary forest, as is 97% (and getting worse still) of their original forest. It is even more sad when you realize those stripped forests contains or contained many species never discovered. Sorry to be so grim, it's just that there's pain hidden behind this beauty.       1. Wow, I had no idea that deforestation was such a massive problem in Madagascar! It is very sad to think that so many species were once on this earth that we will never have the opportunity to discover because we destroyed them. And it still happens every day. Posted 11 years ago
        1. Couldn't agree more. Whilst I have grown used to seeing conservation problems in our travels, nowhere did we find it as depressing as in Madagascar. Not only is it currently in a sad state, it is actually quickly getting worse.

          That said, the 3% remaining I still consider the most spectacular sighting I have personally ever encountered.
