I want to suggest an alternative ID - Homalodisca vitripennis. The pattern on the wings and eye match that species more closely than P. irrorata.

Yes, it does look more like it. Thank you for correcting my estimate. I will change it. It will also be good to let Texas A&M University know the correct species. I remember the top of the fly was very iridescent.
