  2. Beautiful photo, but to be honest, it looks more like a Chestnut-backed chickadee (Poecile rufescens) to me. Posted 5 years ago
    1. Agreed! Posted 5 years ago
      1. Changed the ID, thanks for being sharp, both!

Note that if you're convinced, you're very much encouraged and invited to directly change the ID, with a supplemental comment to explain. Identification is a group process.

        1. I can't speak for Barry, but I think I've already told you that I prefer to leave a comment and let the photographer change the ID themselves. I remember one time Natalia jumped down my throat for changing the ID and then editing the title of her photo to reflect the correct species name... Posted 5 years ago
          1. You have a fair point here. Last week another conflict took place based on such misunderstanding.

Clearly, the way the system is designed (like a Wiki) is not how people actually behave or feel. So either I must make it more clear or adjust the system.

Your approach, which is very kind and considerate, leaves the problem that the photo owner may never respond. That's why I prefer direct correction, with a comment.

Anyway, respect your approach, it's not wrong, so no worries.

            1. That's true of course. I do try to make a note and revisit photos I commented on a while later to see if the ID got changed :) Posted 5 years ago
              1. Well, I usually mention it first, then I wait a week or two and if they haven't reacted or changed, then I make the change myself. I just think it is more respectful to offer the person the chance to correct their own pictures. Posted 5 years ago
    2. Appreciate the correction

      1. Happy to help - I have had a number of my IDs corrected here - it is one of the great things about Jungle Dragon that it is always done in a spirit of helpfulness and respect. Posted 5 years ago
