
Orchard Spider - Leucauge venusta
Beautiful spider with an elongated silvery abdomen that was marked with yellow, black, and green. The cephalothorax was yellow and had stripes along the sides.
Habitat: I nearly walked into this web as it was hanging between two trees on a hiking trail. Mixed forest

The orchard spider is a long-jawed orbweaver spider that occurs from southern Canada to Panama, along the East coast, reaching into the central US. The web is often oriented horizontally, with the spider hanging down in the center.
