
Commelina cyanea
Commelina is a genus of about 230 species with about 7 occurring in Australia. Found in forests and woodlands of Queensland, New South Wales and Northern Territory. Commonly known as 'scurvy weed' as it was used by early European settlers to avoid or alleviate scurvy. Seen as a trailing perennial herb, with fleshy stems growing up to 1-2 metres in length. Highly attractive to our native bees and flies.
Flowers are around 15 mm diameter.

"Commelina cyanea" is a perennial prostrate herb of the family Commelinaceae native to moist forests and woodlands of eastern Australia, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. The blue flowers appear over the warmer months and are pollinated by bees and flies.
